Here are a few lines o' humor, to start the week off right, and to put a smile on our faces before we leave this afternoon:
- Aidan is doing a smashing job in the reading department, loving both being read to (phew!) as well as sitting quietly by himself with a book on his lap. While some of the words that spill out of his little mouth blow me away, he still does get hung up on a few tricky ones. He's only five, after all. And the winner of all flubs came when reading the back of a box of ice pops. It had something to do with using your imagination, being creative, thinking of fun things to do. He read along at a good clip, and then said something about "using your cavity juicies." Ummm .... what? Yes, Mommy, your cavity juicies.
My dad looked over his shoulder and read it correctly: use your creative juices.
Oh, said Aidan. What's that?
So, we explained it to him.
My dad then told him to use his imagination.
"No, Grandpa!" he said, somewhat indignantly. "I can't use my imagination. I have to use my creative juices!"
Duh!
******************************************
Aidan sleeps in boxer shorts and t-shirts -- a cheap and comfortable alternative to higher priced pj's. One of his favorite bottoms are made up of some Hawaiian design -- hibiscus flowers, or whatever looks rather tropical. For the top, he was given a few tank tops -- those tight-fitting cotton "Grandpa-type" undershirts. Aidan loves them. So when he first put on that particular outfit, ready for bed, he was ecstatic. Not only did he prance around the house, doing his own version of a hula dance (now that's a sight), he also exclaimed, "Look, Mommy! Now I look just like Grandpa!" And with that, he ran upstairs to show Grandpa his new version of mini-me. My parents roared. What's that saying, about imitation and flattery ... ? Love it.
