Nasty Wet Blanket

Yes -- that's our weather as of late. Walking outside and immediately getting wrapped in a hot, sticky, wet blanket is beyond unpleasant. My motivation level has dropped to near zero, not wanting to exert myself. This slog is affecting all of us -- even Jack, who is stretched out on the floor, fast asleep. Oh, wait ... he's always like that.

Don is gone again, zipping away yesterday afternoon for another week of training in New England. He's actually looking forward to this trip, for he's going with an entirely new perspective. He has a foundation now, a context with which he can function. He has a list of questions and areas on which he would like to focus -- situations that have come up over the past few weeks. He's received quite a few compliments already, and his strengths and abilities have not gone unnoticed. He's had a terribly rough time in the past, so to hear some positive praise is a welcomed thing. It's nice to see him smile.

The kids, however, are now wise to what's going on ... and they are not happy. Aidan is my boy through and through, sensitive to his very core. While Daddy going away is no longer an unknown, the knowledge of it in a way makes it even more difficult. It is no longer an adventure. The days will seem long to my little guy. Hopefully we will be able to plan a few fun things this week, despite the weather. For me, I've gotten a bit more accustomed to it. Last night's sleep ... well, it didn't happen. At least, not well. Every noise, every light, every twitch from Jack popped my blurry eyes wide open. Tonight will be better, I'm sure, but today the lack of sleep added to my lack of motivation is proving already to be a fairly lethal combination. For me, my personal witching hour comes around 4:00. The day is long, the kids are usually done with each other by that point ... and my day still isn't over. Making dinner for the three of us is less than a pleasure, for we all need a break from each other ... yet we still have a few hours to go. And today is Monday ...

Blessings to you on this nasty day -- and may you find relief from this Easy Bake Oven!
