I have to admit that I love silly (or stupid) humor. People falling, misstatements, scaring people, bloopers, you name it -- I'll be rolling on the floor with laughter. And I also have to admit that I did enjoy all the comments George W. Bush made over the years. This morning, when searching for the OB/GYN quote about "spreading their love," I stumbled upon a site completely dedicated to these "Bushisms," as they are now called. There are hundreds of these gaffs! I know the guy has gotten a completely raw deal -- much of it deserved, but I'd like to think there are some redeeming qualities about the man -- but my goodness, his misstatements brought me some much-needed laughter this morning. I really appreciate your comments on my blog. It helps to hear from some one who recently went through this.
As for bucking the system, yes we can do that. However, if you do before starting the process, you will not be able to access the funds at all. It would be like doing this whole process without insurance. I hope to get the forms early this week and I will see if we can start appointments before the committee meets. I am guessing no, but we will see.
My husband's insurance company could have some money for this as well, but we wanted to see if we can get funds through health care first.
Our other option would be Shriner's as you did. Dr Dobb's nurse told me they would prefer to work out of the children's hospital but will work out of Shriner's if needs be.
Angel Flights. Had not thought of that. I do feel odd looking into that. I had always thought of that as kids who are really ill and in need of care... but it could be an option.
There is a Ronald McDonald house there as well as Haven House. The Ronald McDonald house is first come first serve where as Haven House you can book ahead. Small fee ($30 a night) but has a kitchen and some meals included. Looks like a great option if we need to stay for a long time.
And yes, if he wants to cast, we will start as soon as we are allowed. Spring and summer are coming up. Matthew is quite the outdoors kid and it would kill him to not be in the sandbox, water, hiking, everything in the summer. I want it over and done with ASAP.
I would love to find a doctor closer, or even have his current doctor perhaps learn and take over... Is that too much to wish for? :)
