V-Day (Or: Spreading the Love)

Valentine's Day is an odd "holiday." When Don and I first started dating, I wanted him to pull out all the stops -- card, flowers, extravagant dinner, you name it. Now? After almost 15 years of being a couple (dating+engagement+marriage), V-Day sort of fizzled out amongst the rigors of regular daily living. I don't demand cards or flowers (although they would be nice), and an extravagant dinner is certainly far, far out of the equation now.

But we do like to "observe" it in some way or another. Usually it's creating a dining masterpiece after the kids go to bed, followed by a good movie. We kind of figured that's what we be on tap this time around, and that's OK. Except now Don informed me that his parents are coming to visit, and stay overnight, on this Valentine's Weekend. Change o' plans.

So how do you plan on spending V-Day this weekend? Any big, fun, lavish, extraordinary adventures planned (through which I may live vicariously?). Dinner and flowers ... or chillin' with your in-laws in the living room?

And speaking of love -- and practicing it in various ways -- I am reminded of a favorite quote of former President George W. Bush:
